Quoting from "500 Years of Trade, Bavaria - India" by Dr. Wolfgang Knabe (2005), this is the "greatest historical globe of the world ..." The source was Diego Ribero's 1529 map of the world which, according to Ribero, "... contains all which has been discovered of the world until today ..."
The globe was unveiled in Munich, Germany, on October 10, 2005, on the 500th anniversary of the Indo-German trade relations.
To help you get a feel for the immense size of this globe - the man seen in the bottom right corner of this picture is over 6 feet tall.
